Campus Rewire, Sonis Field Governance, Partial Classroom Update

Project List

The Information Technology department will be performing some much needed upgrades & maintenance across campus this summer. If there are any questions or conflicts on the dates listed below, please email jbocook@ohiochristian.edu.

  • Full Campus Network Rewire – See expected downtime listed on the right.
  • Increase WiFi coverage by 18% – This includes outdoor access points for the common area.
  •  Upgrade of two classrooms to new technology & HDMI connections – This will be a test of our potential full classroom upgrade to be scheduled in the future.
  • Sonis Data Field Governance – Place safeguards into Sonis form fields to promote good data
  • Analyze Sonis report usage – Remove unused/non-assigned reports, document those with SSN & remove SSN from non-needed reports.
Additional Internal Initiatives 
  • DHCP Server Decommission & Replacement
  • System Center Configuration Manager Implementation

 

 

Expected Downtime

Building downtime listed below. This is a much overdo maintenance initiative. Expect each building to be down a full 8 hours on the date listed. July 3rd we should expect 3 hours of full downtime with rolling outages throughout the day to specific campus locations. Dates will be updated below as needed. Please visit this page often. Expect to work from home on the dates listed below.

Campus Wide
  • July 3rd – Campus Systems Offline
    • We are moving our core network to our new infrastructure. Email & e360 will remain unaffected. All other services will be unavailable for up to 3 hours.
  • July 3rd – Maxwell Library, Server Room
    • Replacing expired network switches, installing new core network components.
Individual Buildings
  • May 25th – OCUBIC Network Complete
    • Rewiring the OCUBIC network, adding new core components and an updated OARNET switch.
  • May 25th – Graham Admin Building Complete
    • Rewiring the Graham switch room.
  • June 1st – Maxwell Library, 1st Floor Complete
    • Mounting a new open air rack and rewiring/mounting existing network equipment.
  • June 22nd – Brookhill/BerryLeaf Phase 1 Complete, Scheduling Phase 2
    • Replacing expired network equipment (Brookhill) and rewiring where needed.
  • June 29th & 30th – Conley/Johnson Building
    • Replacing outdated network equipment, rack and patch panel wiring.
  • July 3rd – Maxwell Center, Science & Logistics
    • Replace outdated network equipment, rewire switches.
  • July 3rd – Maxwell Center, Main
    • Mounting a proper rack, replacing a failing core switch, expired equipment, rewiring and moving the wifi access point to it’s appropriate location.

The IT Network Infrastructure team will also be wiring a the right wing of our Berryleaf location in expectation of an AGS Registrar move – no downtime expected. Partially Complete, Pending Storage Removal
